Calpurnia/ “Cal”, (15 weeks old DSH black female), was born with her sisters Maudie and Jean-Louise on a boat, and has been bottle fed and nurtured by hand since she was 3 weeks old, and raised around other cats and dogs. Cal was named after the treasured housekeeper and mother-figure to the children in “To Kill A Mockingbird”, because she is just as genuinely sweet as the molasses the character cooks with. Just like her character, Cal is a songbird, with a joyful and playful side, but is very much a nurturer, grooming her sisters and laying down beside them whenever she can, and is also the hilariously fair disciplinarian, scolding them or putting a paw on the back of her sister Maudie when she gets into trouble! Just as her character in the novel does, Cal has her guard up just a bit with brand new people until she can judge if she can trust you, but then instantly purrs the moment you pick her up or recognizes you coming in the room, cuddles and leans right into you, clings to you when you try to put her down, and has learned that people scratching her ears and rubbing her neck are one of life’s greatest pleasures. She also adores winding her body on yours if you sing the chorus of “Going Back to Cali”, but don’t tell anyone! J Calpurnia would do very well going home with one of her sisters, especially her favorite, Maudie who she is so very close to, but is equally happy and confident to fit into her new forever home by herself.
